OK, so I got my baby and my kidlet TOMS shoes. They are (a) awesomely cute and (b) good and flexible but, unfortunately, a+b is negated by the fact that in three (3) wears, they look thrashed. And I'm so not a person to care about wear and tear, but this is excessive.

I think it's the purple sparkly fabric; the metallic threads aren't holding up perhaps?

Anyway, sad face.

Tea on sale! Kids' clothes, but the kind you half-wish came in your size.

Tea is known for great prints, but I love these, too.

I totally covet all the kids clothes by speeses. The colors! The graphics! (Oh, yeah, and they have a nice message.)

Love this threadless t-shirt design. It reminds me of a shirt I got someone at Brooklyn Industries - it was a line-drawn image of a computer/accordion/boat.

Ticket to ride

You have to live around here to get the awesomeness of this shirt. I just wish it came in grown-up sizes.

Rad Fenwick

Remember Ray Fenwick? I keep talking and (talking and talking and talking) about him because he's fantastic and in thirty years I'm going to be boring people at his retrospective at sfmoma by telling them that I always knew his was a genius, always knew it!

Well, I admit I'm not the only one who knows. Tiny Showcase does too, and they've restocked a shirt they carry with a great Ray Fenwick design.


And don't forget to sign up for the regular Tiny Showcase stuff - it's a brilliant idea and has a devoted following that's totally warranted.

I pretty much love every damn thing in the clothes section. Also, the product descriptions make me laugh.

Petite front pockets thwart the urge to stash bulky objects at your midsection but still give your hands a cozy refuge.

(And yes, they do tell you what typeface is used on the clothes.)

Covet freakout

It's rare that I find a site where every damn thing is so covetable I just have to stare and stare.

I found one in House Industries. Grain Edit was giving away one of these shirts as a prize.



Pretty much the only thing I'd like more (psst! House Industries!) is a pilcrow.

But I adore that shirt, and maybe even more in brown, rockin' the orange ampersand.



Which I could then accessorize with this.



There's even a freakin' cutting board, although I'm sure I'd lose minced onions over the curve there.

But for those of you less convinced of the domination of the ampersand, there's always this.

Up the river

Sometimes on Etsy, consistency can be hard to find. And custom clothes at affordable (to me) prices are definitely hard to find. That's why AftonRiver's shop is so covetable.

These are thoughtful, fanciful, great everyday things -- they're fun and pretty and in nice colors.

What's not to like?


This looks like an incredibly comfortable dress, and the hem is fantastic.



Also great. She is all about the ruffle.



If you can pull off shoulderless, this is nice. Also doubles as a maternity skirt. That's good thinking.




And the girl makes jackets, too.



This might be my favorite, even though it's not a skirt. A gorgeous t-shirt, a gorgeous color.

Object of desire

I am ridiculously excited for Objectified, the new film by Gary "Helvetica" Hustwit.

Until the premiere (hey, someone invite me to that), we'll just have to be satisfied with this:

Okay, they had me hooked from the name: The Regional Assembly of Text. I already want to live in this store.

Plus the site graphic looks like a file folder and the T-shirts are perfect-absurd.


You never know when you might need to count recessing trees! I saw this on io9 and had to immediately go stare at it. But there's no girly medium.

I also love this.



The store is in Vancouver. That's not even that far away, really...

Scout it out

My daughter's wonderful preschool is fund-raising.
Why am I mentioning that? Well, they're doing it in a pretty Covetable way.

Scout is a line of organic kids clothes with great colors. They're offering a coupon code (GRIFFIN) that will get you 30% off, and donating 30% of sales to the school.

I like this colorblock dress a lot.




Orange and blue, pink and brown. What's not to like?

I was admonished to try Etsy for the laptop problem -- of course I just end up seeing cute stuff.

So hey, Fred Flare is opening a store in Brooklyn, which is interesting if you live in, or are going to, Brooklyn.

I wonder how all that stuff will look in person. Online I always find at least one thing to covet -- like this man's shirt, which I would definitely wear if I were a man (because the picture would lie flat).

Typeface

Many, many people have told me I should watch Helvetica.

But, you know, time slips away and you forget, and then you remember, and you get if from Netflix and you love it and want to tell all those people they were right but you've forgotten their names.

Anyway, this post isn't really about that.

It's about this scarf, which is cute. And not in Helvetica.
