One hand in my Poketo

I had a bag from Poketo that I loved. (Still love. Unfortunately a toddler dragging it down the sidewalk didn't really make it any better.)

But I digress from my main point, which is that Poketo has fun stuff.

Now, there's no way in the world I'll be able to afford this, but it's not just about possible, right? We've got to celebrate the covetable.




This is by Finnish-Ugandan designer Lincoln Kayiwa. I adore the way it makes a mish-mash seem purposeful. I mean, this is sort of what my bookshelf looks like anyway, only boringly flat.

And speaking of the shape of t-shirts...

Not to criticize, Veer, but I have some criticism for you. See, I'd buy this if it were a different shape.



But you know I love you, really. I own two (2!) typography hoodies after all. (I know, that's weird. It was an accident.)

The songs of the fifty states

A new, major covet - the work of Frank Chimero, which I saw on bangs, a beard and ballyhoo.

And then this is awesome - the covetable states of america. Makes me wish I lived in Colorado.

Upper(nut)case

Yes, well, of course I like this. I liked it the moment I saw the cover. Then I liked it when I read the copy on their website, below the photo (text that - almost troublingly - seems to be written as if it were targeted at me, which probably means I am supremely unoriginal. Or it's my Canadian genes.).



I didn't have to see the kind of things they like to know...well...I'd like them, too. But look at them anyway. And they have some pretty books, including one with a great theme - art by artists all named Jennifer. I love a good gimmick.

I feel like I'm not out of bed yet

So when I first found out about Tivoli radios I was actually looking for a clock radio for my mom. I ended up getting her a Model One, which is not a clock radio but is such an awesome radio that it doesn't matter.

Of course, now I see this. The Model Three.

An analog clock, too! The speaker is on top (that confused me for a while).

Command and obey

This is a lovely set of prints from Christopher David Ryan. Doesn't 'command' just look so pretty?






The last one definitely has some extra appeal.

I saw it in a bookstore but didn't really have time to stop and check it out enough. But just the cover is enough to show me it's a keeper.

Object of desire

I am ridiculously excited for Objectified, the new film by Gary "Helvetica" Hustwit.

Until the premiere (hey, someone invite me to that), we'll just have to be satisfied with this:

Play it, sam

So everyone knows the Playsam cars.

But not to brag, I got something for Christmas that's even better. A Playsam airplane. Don't you wish real airplanes looked like this? (But with windows. And able to fly.)



It's like this, but silver -- and that's better, because the silver has a real depth to the finish and is very, very nice to hold in your hand.

I have to say that I like this swish car, though. (Apparently this is an executive toy. That makes being an executive sound very attractive.)

Maybe your reach, not mine

It's sort of a joke for Design Within Reach to send me a catalogue. The name on its own just kills me. I mean, the day I buy a $500 desk lamp is the day I have no furniture in my house except a $500 desk lamp.

However, these scissors are beautiful. Maybe not $100 beautiful, but covetable nonetheless.



On the other hand, this unadorned canvas bag is also $100. There is no way you can convince me a tote bag needs to cost that much. At least stencil a damn bird on it!



But, you know, DWR has realized some of the arcane knowledge of LL Bean:

Check baby out

Greg at Daddytypes posted about this baby monitor...with his usual erudition he went into the designer and the auction price and all that, but I just stared at the screen and coveted. I'm such a philistine. But seriously, could a baby monitor look better?

Via Gizmodo and whole bunch of other blogs comes this pretty awesome espresso machine. It puts my Saeco Aroma to shame, that's for sure. Judging from the picture it takes pods, however, and I'm not a pod person (so to speak). But FrancisFrancis! has some competition...

Ray Fenwick is absolutely brilliant. Remember the Hi bag? Anyway, his first book, Hall of Best Knowledge, is available for pre-order.

Viva Vespa

Wow, I haven't seen something this covetable in a long while. And it wasn't even discovered by me! I got a present from someone who seems to know me well...

I didn't know that there's a whole series of objects based on Vespa parts. I'm totally in love.

Bebe dinner

OK, it's basically the same thing as some Circo brand plate I bought somewhere for like seventy-five cents, but Skip Hop's version is way cooler.

I particularly like (besides the look, of course) the way it comes with lids for the bowls. Because is it egg day? Is it pasta day? Nori? Almonds? One never knows...one needs to put things back in the fridge.
