My favorite year

I like this a lot. Not that I have any attachment to that year, but you can choose what year you like, and the numbers themselves are very appealing.

From Etsy seller Chocolate and Steel.

Footnote

I like this one. I think House Industries needs to make laptop skins.

Robot parade

I got a new laptop, which means I can blog again about laptop cases and skins! Just in case you didn't get enough before.

This site has a lot of those big-head "artsy" line drawings that are so popular these days, but I do like these two:

Hippos go berserk

I like this simple maple teether from Etsy seller little alouette.

Covet freakout

It's rare that I find a site where every damn thing is so covetable I just have to stare and stare.

I found one in House Industries. Grain Edit was giving away one of these shirts as a prize.

Pretty much the only thing I'd like more (psst! House Industries!) is a pilcrow.

But I adore that shirt, and maybe even more in brown, rockin' the orange ampersand.

Which I could then accessorize with this.

There's even a freakin' cutting board, although I'm sure I'd lose minced onions over the curve there.

But for those of you less convinced of the domination of the ampersand, there's always this.

It's all about brunch

My mom sent me this link, and it makes me laugh. I'm actually pastrami myself, which is cool (at least I'm not corned beef!) but I like the bagel look. And of course I really want to be a black and white.

People read this?

So I was reading Daddy Types, because it's awesome. And he had this post that was all about 'Hey, there's a Mammut crib at IKEA.'

And I said to myself, 'Hey, I posted about that. Twice, actually.'

And then I kept reading and it said, 'Oh, look, Ohdeedoh spotted it yesterday too. At covetable' and I said, 'Hey, that's me." Ohdeeoh is Apartment Therapy for babies.

So there was one of those ourobourous bloggy moments.

(Thanks again for the photo, Kitt.)

Command and obey

This is a lovely set of prints from Christopher David Ryan. Doesn't 'command' just look so pretty?

The last one definitely has some extra appeal.

Book for sale = must buy

I seriously covet this book: For Sale: 200 Innovative Packaging Designs

I saw it in a bookstore but didn't really have time to stop and check it out enough. But just the cover is enough to show me it's a keeper.

Here's an interview with the author, John Foster.

Can I think of a new headline about clocks? No.

Via Dooce, I was led to Etsy seller pilotdesign and this covetable clock. Because, you know, I need more clocks.

Pancakes, oh pancakes

I think I just found the next present for my hard-to-present-with-presents friend Joe. (Hi, Joe.)

I'm not saying I'd want a whole houseful of Mosser glass, but I do love restaurant ware in the home (hello, Kamei on Clement Street).

On the road again

An online acquaintance, DG Strong, mentioned something I'd never heard about. But I could hardly read the blog post, I was so entranced by the picture he posted of a teardrop trailer. Maybe everybody knows about these and I'm just out of touch, but anyway I love them.

These pictures are from a company called So-Cal Teardrops (which sounds like a New Wave song about my childhood).

Kikk-Clock

I freakin' love this.

All there is to say.

Give me an F! Give me an O! (etc.)

I like the posters for this show of work by Cyrus Highsmith of the Font Bureau. I especially like them in series.

Sorry about the weird edges, that's my fault.

There's also this one, which is infotational!

Pedal power

I've posted about tricycles before, but recently I had to actually buy one after my daughter's Radio Flyer with Pushbar (not interesting, nor well made, but cheaper than a Kettler) fell apart for the umpteenth time. She's getting bigger anyway, and we could have gone to a tiny two-wheeler, but she's not a speed demon and we thought she'd be better with a trike still.

We went head to head with these two.

This is a Schwinn. I had a Schwinn when I was a kid, and though I think they've been bought since then, I have a smidge of brand nostalgia.

This is a Giant. (A Li'l Giant, which is a silly name. But whatever. It still says Giant on the deck.)

We went with the Giant (in pink, naturally), because it's a crazy good bike. It's not heavy, for one thing. It goes very speedily on the sidewalk, it looks great, the hardware seems very, very sturdy, and it didn't cost much more than the other. And less than a Kettler, for sure.

We slapped a basket with fake plastic flowers on it and she was good to go.
